PAINTING MASTER COPIES WITH WATERCOLOR

3-DAY WEEKEND WORKSHOP

FRIDAY 2/20 - 7 - 9pm SATURDAY 2/21 - 10am - 4pm SUNDAY 2/22 - 10am - 4pm

In this weekend workshop, we will explore the rich tradition of copying master paintings and drawings using watercolors. This is a great way to expand our painting ‘vocabulary’ by experiencing how another artist saw or sees the world. This is also a wonderful way of training the eye to see shapes, values, edges and texture, all in service of capturing the look and feel of the original. Since we will be using watercolors to copy these masterworks that were produced with different media, the focus will be not so much on reproducing exactly the original, but rather using the master painting (or drawing) as an inspiration to interpret, in our own way, the beauty that we see.

All master copy references will be provided and a materials list will be sent out shortly after you have signed up.
